Who is Princess Opa?
Princess Opa is the radiant child of the future, born where rivers of time bend and memories yet to come already flow. Okapi carries the hidden mysteries of the past. Opa carries the unseen possibilities of tomorrow.
Young and playful, she is both companion and protector, and she reminds the Guardians of Kongo that even in the darkest hour, the future can still be claimed.
Her look
A sleek okapi marked with glowing golden-white glyphs that shift like constellations, bright eyes that hold both dawn and dusk, a purple royal cape and gold jewels.
Weaknesses
The futures she sees can overwhelm her and contradict one another. Her trusting nature leaves her open to betrayal, she depends on Likaku and Amarulaa to protect her in battle, and using too much foresight leaves her weak.
What she means
Opa is the future heart of Kongo: the hope that, no matter how much was stolen, the story of her people still flows forward. She stands for Africa’s children of tomorrow, the dreamers and protectors who will rebuild what was forgotten. Through her, the Guardians learn that destiny is not fixed.
Appearances
Princess Opa appears in The Guardians of Kongo: Okapi & Opa, The Sacred Bottle of Time of Ota Benga, the ISOLELE children’s comic book.
