Who is Mfumu Yenge?
Mfumu Yenge is the wise and noble father of Okapi Nkosi, one of the last Sacred Elders of the Ituri Forest. Known as the Chief of the Dawn, he stands for the moment between night and day, between what was hidden and what will be revealed.
He taught Okapi to listen to the whispers of the forest, to trust silence and to carry memory like a flame through the dark. He rarely appears in the stories, but his spirit is felt in every step his son takes.
His look
Majestic and older than any other okapi, with a mane streaked silver-white and eyes like still pools under the moon. His presence alone silences the forest.
What he means
Mfumu Yenge is the bridge between generations, the continuity of ancestral knowledge. Through him, Okapi inherits the sacred duty of memory. Mfumu means chief in the Kongo languages.
