Who is Lukula Kemet?
“Even love can be soil, and soil can swallow a god.”
Born in the fertile valleys of Kikwit, Lukula was gifted from birth with a bond to the whispers of the soil. She served in the royal palace as one of Kimoya Kandake’s handmaidens, known for her healing hands and her calm wisdom. Her husband Yakubo, the royal scientist, left his family to chase divine experiments, and something in her heart broke.
The woman who delivered Zaiire
When King Zola exiled Kimoya for bearing the son of Shango, Lukula gave her shelter. She delivered the baby Zaiire with her own hands, sang the ancestral chants over him and raised him in secret. Her home became Zaiire’s first cradle.
To all who saw her, she was a saint. But the soil keeps its secrets, and Lukula is the Root of Shadows. What she truly wanted from the child is told only in the books.
Who she is
Maternal, patient and intelligent, she speaks softly, yet every word carries centuries of buried anger. She believes the earth belongs to those who understand its pain. Her symbol is a golden heart held tight by living roots: love twisted by obsession.
