On July 3 and 4, 2027, Kinshasa will host something Africa has never seen: ISOLELE UMOJA, the first festival of African superheroes, dedicated entirely to the ISOLELE Universe.
For two days, the heroes of Kongo step off the page and into the streets of the city where their story began.
Why UMOJA
Umoja means unity. The name carries the mission of the festival and of ISOLELE itself: to bring Africa and its descendants together around heroes who look like them, speak their languages, and carry their history.
That is why ISOLELE has invited all the continents. From Kinshasa to Nairobi, from Los Angeles to Paris, from Kingston to São Paulo, fans of Black superheroes and African comics are called home to Kongo.
Africa's Own Comic-Con
The world has Comic-Con. Africa now has UMOJA. But this is not a copy. Comic-Con gathers many universes under one roof. UMOJA is built around one universe, born in Africa, created by African artists, and celebrated on African soil.
The ambition is clear: to build something deeper, and in time bigger, than any comic festival the world has known.
The Universe Comes Alive
By July 2027, ISOLELE expects to have 16 books completed. Festival guests will step into the world of Zaiire, the Prince of Kongo, Kimoya, Kandake of Kush, Mwindo Lumumba, the first African Panther, and more than 300 characters from the ISOLELE Universe.
The festival will be held in the open air in Kinshasa, a celebration under the same sky where Zaiire was born in the storm.
Built in Kinshasa, Open to the World
ISOLELE's creative engine runs from Kinshasa and Bukavu, with 49 illustrators bringing its universe to life. UMOJA is a chance for the world to meet the artists, the stories, and the culture behind Katiomics, ISOLELE's own genre of African comics.
