Every ISOLELE page begins with research: a silhouette, a symbol, an archive, then a composition that turns memory into adventure. The team builds costumes, kingdoms and gestures so that every detail stays connected to African history.
Faces first
The rule is simple: African characters are drawn with true African features. Hair, skin, jewelry and posture are studied, not guessed.
From Kinshasa to the Kivu
Illustrators, colorists and letterers work from Kinshasa, Goma and Bukavu. For many of them, drawing is also a way to hold on to identity and hope in a region still marked by war.
A genre of its own
Drawing, storytelling and art direction come together into Katiomics, the African comic genre ISOLELE created, the way manga did for Japan.
