How many Black superheroes are there?

There is no single count, because new heroes are created every year. Marvel and DC have dozens of Black heroes, and independent universes are adding many more. The ISOLELE Universe alone counts more than 300 characters, and more than 50 of them already have their own page on this site.

Why African superheroes matter

For a long time, Black heroes in comics were sidekicks or exceptions. African superheroes change that: their powers come from African history, gods and spirits, their cities are African cities, and they are drawn by African hands. ISOLELE calls this genre Katiomics, Africa’s own comic book genre.
